The draw conducted Saturday also paired Iran's Saipa with Uzbekistan's Kuruvchi. Japanese champions Kashima Antlers will face Adelaide United - the first Australian team to make the tournament's knockout stages - while 2006 finalist Al Karama of Syria will meet Japan's Gamba Osaka.
Urawa received a bye through to the quarterfinals as defending champions, and the three Japan teams were kept seperate from each other for Saturday's draw.
The quarterfinals will be played in September, with the semifinals in October and final in November.
The Saipa-Kuruvchi winner will take on the Kashima-Adelaide winner in the semifinals, with the other quarterfinal pairings being drawn into the other semifinal.
The quarterfinal draw for the second-tier AFC Cup was also held Saturday.
Malaysia's Perak will meet Lebanon's Safa, Armed Forces of Singapore will face Oman's Al Nahda, India's Dempo was drawn against Singapore's Home United, while Muharraq of Bahrain will take on Malaysia's Kedah.
