CHIBA, Japan (AP) - Alex Miller was introduced as the new manager of Japanese club JEF United Ichihara on Saturday.
Miller joined from English Premier League giants Liverpool where he had been a long-term member of staff. He was formerly manager of Scottish clubs Hibernian, Aberdeen and St. Mirren.
"It's a very exciting challenge at this stage in my career," Miller said at a new conference. "I hope that I can bring success to this club."
Miller joins Chiba after nearly 10 years at Liverpool, where he had been working as a scout under manager Gerard Houllier and as first team coach under current manager Rafa Benitez.
He spent most of his playing career with Glasgow Rangers.
The 58-year-old Miller replaces Josip Kuze, who was fired earlier this week after the J-League side picked up only two points in their first 11 league matches of the season.
