LINDABRUNN, Austria (AP) - Austria coach Josef Hickersberger will make no decision on his future until his team is no longer involved in next month's European Championship.
Hickersberger said Saturday he wants to fully concentrate on Euro 2008, which Austria co-hosts with Switzerland.
"It's the biggest challenge an Austrian coach has ever had," said Hickersberger, whose contract expires at the end of the year.
Austria is in Group B with Germany, Croatia and Poland at the June 7-29 Euro 2008.
Hickersberger became Austria coach for a second time in January 2006 after also leading the team from 1988-90.
He met with Austrian soccer federation president Friedrich Stickler after Friday's friendly against Cuba.
"We talked about whether I will continue through qualifying for the World Cup," Hickersberger said. "But I will make no decision prior to Euro 2008 because I can't and won't commit myself for various reasons."
Austria plays France in its first World Cup qualification match on Sept. 6.
