Most Nerazzurri fans would prefer to land what would be a third consecutive championship against city rivals AC Milan next weekend but president Massimo Moratti, for one, is not complaining.
He said: "The important thing is to clinch it, any match will do."
Coach Roberto Mancini's side have been in fine form of late even without the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic who may require an operation to correct a troublesome knee problem.
The striker is currently back in his native Sweden receiving treatment but leading sports injury expert Professor Hakan Alfredson claimed the full extent of the injury would only become clear when the 26-year-old started playing again.
He said: "The treatment is going well and if he continues to make progress then surgery will not be needed but we'll see if his knee hurts when he plays again."
Cagliari, for their part, will be no pushovers and with young striker Robert Acquafresca who is part-owned by Inter scoring three goals in the last three games, the Sardinians have pulled five points clear of the relegation zone.
