MEXICO CITY (AP) - Stuttgart defender Ricardo Osorio and Arsenal forward Carlos Vela were among six European-based players named by Mexico on Friday for friendlies against Argentina and Peru next month.
Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven), Aaron Galindo (Frankfurt), Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar), and Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna) were the others summoned by interim coach Jesus Ramirez.
Mexico will meet Argentina on June 4 in San Diego, and Peru four days later in Chicago.
The games will serve as warmups for Mexico's World Cup qualifier against Belize on June 15 in Houston.
Ramirez is coaching while the Mexican soccer federation finds a replacement for Hugo Sanchez, who was fired nearly two months ago after the team failed to qualify for the Olympics.
Stuttgart's Pavel Pardo and FC Barcelona's Giovani dos Santos and Rafael Marquez were not included on the roster due to injuries, and Manchester City striker Nery Castillo was granted permission to be with his ailing mother in Uruguay.
The team will begin training on Monday before traveling to San Diego on June 2.
