GLASGOW, Rangers (AP) - The Scottish Premier League turned down Rangers' request to postpone Saturday's game against Dundee United as it's four days before the UEFA Cup final against Zenit St. Petersburg.
Because Rangers has also reached the Scottish Cup final against Queen of the South, Walter Smith's team has eight games in 21 days and has three matches to catch up in the league campaign.
Smith wanted a longer break before the UEFA Cup final on May 14 at the City of Manchester Stadium. But the SPL said that postponing the Dundee United game would have a knock-on effect to the rest of the season.
Rangers is seven points behind Celtic in the league title race but has three games in hand.
