Irons join chase for brilliant Bruno

West Ham have joined London rivals Tottenham, Napoli and Lazio in the battle to sign Uruguayan starlet Bruno Fornaroli this summer.

The Nacional striker is one of the hottest young players in South America having smashed 13 goals this season.

Spurs, through their number two Gus Poyet, have shown an interest whilst Napoli and Lazio have already held talks about a possible deal.

Now the player's agent Vincenzo D'Ippolito has confirmed that Hammers director of football Gianluca Nani has made contact about the 20-year-old.

"In Italy for the moment there is Napoli and Lazio, abroad, from what I know there is Tottenham," he said.

"In England recently there is also West Ham that have showed their interest. Gianluca Nani, who will soon be working for them, asked me about information on him."

Fornaroli is currently in the process of gaining an EU passport, which D'Ippolito admits is a major part of any possible move.

"A lot will depend on the passport which is waiting for, especially if he wants to go to England," he added.

D'Ippolito also revealed that any deal is currently on hold, adding: "For the moment, everything is blocked.

"We are on stand-by and we must wait around 20 to 30 days."
