Bundesliga Roundup, May 6

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Schalke won 3-0 at Bochum on Tuesday to move past Werder Bremen into second place in the Bundesliga, requiring a victory out of Bremen to keep its advantage in the fight for a berth in next season's European Champions League.

The victory gave Schalke 58 points, one better than Bremen, which plays at Hamburg on Wednesday in its 32-round match.

Stuttgart fell further back when it lost 3-2 at Borussia Dortmund. In other games Tuesday, Energie Cottbus earned a 1-1 draw at Karlsruhe and Hannover crushed Hansa Rostock 3-0 and all but sealed the visitors' relegation.

Bayern Munich clinched the league title on Sunday.

In Bochum, Schalke dominated and got goals from Gerald Asamoah, Ivan Rakitic and Marcelo Bordon to deal Bochum its first home defeat since October.

Asamoah scored with a header off a cross from Rakitic before halftime and the Croatia midfielder added one of his own after a neat Schalke move before Bordon secured the victory.

Mario Gomez scored twice to give him 18 this season, but Dortmund got two goals from Alexander Frei and one from Tinga to win at Stuttgart for the first time at in nearly six years.

Frei curled a free kick in the 59th and added the winner 20 minutes later, before Gomez made things interesting again with his second goal in the 83rd. Stuttgart, the outgoing champion, missed several late chances and can now only hope for a place in the UEFA Cup.

Cottbus missed an opportunity to break away significantly from the relegation zone when it wasted a 1-0 lead at Karlsruhe. Stiven Rivic put Cottbus ahead after 60 minutes but Stefan Buck equalized five minutes later.

In Hannover, the home side got two goals from Jan Rosenthal and one from Hanno Balitsch to leave Rostock in last place, with little hope of avoiding relegation.

Bayern Munich was preparing to celebrate its 21st league championship when it hosts Arminia Bielefeld on Wednesday
