Hernan Crespo has declared he will take ample comfort from a difficult season if Inter reclaim the title.
The Argentine forward admitted the current campaign to be his most difficult but is still determined to carve out an important role in the Nerazzurri's defence of their title.
He said: "This is the toughest season of my career but if we win the title again it will still be a great year.
"It's been difficult but gratifying all the same because although I've been chasing behind the others, the hope is always to be decisive as has often happened throughout my career."
Despite slipping down the pecking order for a starting place in attack behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz and Mario Balotelli, the former Chelsea player scored two important goals at Sampdoria and Lazio to keep Roberto Mancini's side on track for their third successive scudetto.
In his third season at the San Siro outift, the 32-year-old also revealed his part in maintaining morale high in the dressing room.
He said: "It's easy to be part of the group when you play often and score, but when you are given less of a chance yet continue to be a positive influence in the dressing room then you show what you're made of."
