CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Landon Donovan scored three times and had an assist to run his MLS-leading total to eight goals in five games, and Los Angeles beat Chivas USA 5-2.

The Galaxy's Alan Gordon added a pair of goals, with his first snapping a 2-2 tie in the 76th minute. Donovan gave Los Angeles a two-goal pad a minute later with his third score of the game.

Gordon scored again in the 84th, tapping the ball in after David Beckham and Donovan set up the goal with pinpoint passes.

The contest matched the co-tenant Galaxy (2-2-1) and Chivas USA (1-3-1), who share the Carson stadium.

Jaime Moreno scored on two penalty kicks and had two assists as D.C. United beat Real Salt Lake 4-1.

United (2-3-0), who also got late goals from Santino Quaranta and Marcelo Gallardo, lost 4-0 in Utah to Real on April 12. RSL fell to 1-3-1. United was ahead 3-0 when Carey Talley scored for Real in the 77th minute.

Moreno's first goal was set up when Real midfielder Dema Kovalenko was called for a handball on a crossing pass by reserve Marc Burch of United. Moreno chipped a shot directly to the middle of the goal as keeper Nick Rimando drove to his right in the 31st minute.

Alejandro Moreno scored and Columbus remained unbeaten at home this season with a win over Houston.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto's corner kick was headed to the goal by Chad Marshall, but Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad knocked the ball into Moreno's path, setting up his fourth goal of the season in the 22nd minute.

The Crew improved to 4-1-0, their best start in 10 years, They are in first place in the Eastern Conference. Defending MLS Cup champion Houston (0-2-3) is still looking for its first victory.

Amado Guevara scored twice in the second half to give Toronto FC a victory over Kansas City, the second-year Toronto club's franchise-record third straight win.

Toronto, which only won six of 30 games last year, improved to 3-2-0 and went above .500 for the first time ever, while the Wizards fell to 3-2-1. Toronto has beaten the Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and Kansas City during the streak.

John Thorrington scored two goals to lift Chicago over Colorado.

Thorrington tallied his first goal in the 53rd minute. Tomasz Frankowski sent a shot into the box. The ball deflected off a defender and back into play. Thorrington ran up and shot the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.

He added his second goal in the 84th minute. Justin Mapp made a run up the left side of the field and crossed the ball to Thorrington, who sent a high ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

In the 86th minute, Colorado's Tom McManus cut the lead in half, making a shot off a Christian Gomez corner.
